Caleb turned 8 months old.

Our morning routine was interrupted this morning because Acuda was fascinated with something outside the back door. I looked down to see a baby bird sitting right up against the house on our back steps. Immediately I called for Jason, and the pictures explain the rest. What is NOT pictured is Acuda playing with the bird before Jason was able to pick it up. That involved me screaming, afraid that Acuda would hurt the poor thing. Jason placed the bird in our neighbors tree after the photo shoot. We're not sure what happened to it...

Caleb has been introduced to his sippy cup! You're right - he looks very puzzled by it. More than drinking from it, he likes to gnaw on the rubber sippy spout. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it!

Our family had the opportunity to go to New Hampshire this month. There was a retreat for missionaries who serve in the New England area and we were invited to be their guests. Jason and I were particularly excited to travel somewhere we'd never been. On the way back to Ottawa, we stopped in a state park and did some hiking - a great way to enjoy the season and break up our drive home. I was thrilled to see that the Appalachian Trail crossed through the state park, so we made sure to cross its path and take a photo. These are some of our favorite photos from the trip!

Caleb and Acuda are buddies! Acuda likes to come into Caleb's room when he's waking up from a nap, and Caleb never ceases to be happy to see him. I included the second picture because our dog's tongue looks weird and long, kinda like a cow!

I apologize that we didn't take many pictures this month. There's quite a gap between this post and the last one! These pictures are from when Jason and I gave a short downtown tour to some visiting Americans. I love the close-ups of Caleb and me. He really seems to be smiling for the camera.

We've had our first snow! Luckily, as I write this entry, it's long gone! I thought I'd be ambitious and take Caleb out for a walk at the dog park - BIG MISTAKE! Halfway through the walk, Caleb started crying (it was quite windy and damp). I was getting a workout from pushing the stroller through the snow/slush. And my hands were freezing. Acuda was the only one who had a good time. These pictures are from the BEGINING of the walk - you can see that we're all smiling.

Here are more pictures to chronicle how Caleb and Acuda are great buddies.

Merlin and Carla recently returned from a trip to China (introducing Carla to Merlin's extended family). They bought two adorable outfits for Caleb and we dressed him up for Halloween. Please don't miss that his hat has a fake ponytail hanging off the back!! They look SO cute on him. In all seriousness, I could see him wearing the outfits as pajamas - they're so soft!
