Caleb has been standing up and pulling up SO MUCH. His favorite place to practice is in his room by the crib. Once he's hanging on with two hands, he's very stable. Today I managed to catch the "up" and the "down", when he fell back onto his bottom! The last picture summarizes how the felt after all the exercise...TIRED!

You might be concerned by the first picture in thie blog entry. While it does look like Caleb's foot is in Acuda's mouth - that's not really what was happening! Acuda was chewing on his bone, and Caleb thought it was really yucky. I can imagine Caleb thinking, "Please, dude, give me some space. Take that gross bone somewhere else!"

Caleb has realized what the rest of us have known for a long time - the fastest way from one place to the next is to WALK! He doesn't move on his own (you can see that he needs some fingers or furnature to hold on to), but he loves to move. The funny "platapus" faces that he's making are actually him in mid-sentence. He like to talk and babble while he walks, and the pictures were snapped while he was chatting away.

This is the perfect little nook for our little guy. He positions himself perfectly between the crib and toy chest and reaches the books on the book shelf. Caleb likes to pull off as many books as he can. Picture books, chapter books, heavy books, tiny books. Sometimes, he'll stop long enough to actually look at them. This activity keeps him entertained for a while! Eventually he decides it is time to move on. So he stands up and tries to make his way out of the "reading corner." But with so many slippery books under-foot, moving can be hard!

With all the standing and "walking" Caleb has done over the past several weeks, he hasn't shown much interest in crawling. Yesterday that changed! Caleb mostly uses the "army crawl", but does manage to pull his knees underneath himself for a few seconds. We learned from RJ, Rosie and Avery that a cell phone can be quite a motivator for little ones who are thinking about crawling!

THANKSGIVING! We loaded up our car with baby supplies and the dog and drove down to Virginia to celebrate Thanksgiving with my mom's side of the family. At our first hotel, Caleb caught a ride on the luggage cart. My uncle fed him a few bites of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving Day - I wasn't sure what to think! Caleb loved it! My mom and dad had lots of quality time with Caleb too. I only with I had more pictures to prove it! Spending time with extended family was a highlight of the trip for me. Jason got a real treat when we stayed up late sharing stories around the kitchen table. We had an awesome time!
