We went to Prince Edward Island for one week. The first half of the week was "business" (the annual meeting for our denomenation), and we stayed at the University of PEI. The second half of the week was "pleasure", and we rented a cottage near the beach. Here's a little summary of our first family vacation:
First we stopped overnight in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. Lovely small town. Big waterfall. Caleb was not excited about riding in his carseat for 7 more hours. Lots of crying.

When we arrived in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, we relaxed in the grass on the UPEI campus. This was Jason and Caleb's first wrestling match. Mmmm. Feet.

Jason played golf at a really nice course. You can see that the edge of the course was right by the beach. His friends in the picture are also in ministry in Ottawa.

While traveling to our cottage, we passed this bed and breakfast. We stopped to take a picture, of course! If we travel to PEI again, maybe we will stay here?!

Our first day at the beach...not like we imagined. The wind was throwing sand around so hard that it stung. We attempted to set up a tent to give Caleb shade, but the wind made it like a giant parachute. The water was much to cold to swim, and there was no sun-baithing. But did we have fun? YES!

Day two at the beach was lots of fun, too. Since we were staying in the birthplace of Anne of Green Gables, we took in a few "Anne festivities" (an Anne parade and touring the Anne house). In this picture, we're standing in front of Anne's room, decorated to look exactly how it was described in the book.

We finished the day (July 4th, ironically) with catching the sunset. Jason explored the rocky, jagged coast while Caleb and I hung out. When the sun finally set, it was one of a kind!

Wedding #3, Chris and Michelle. Lovely ceremony and reception! Another mother at our table managed to put Caleb to sleep, so Jason and I were able to participate in the dance lessons. We learned to do the Hustle! Caleb slept through the whole thing!

This is quite the phenomenon! Caleb has loved chewing on his toes lately! By the first picture, it seems he can actually get quite a bit of his foot in his mouth. This is usually accompanied by lots of drooling and babbling. It makes it difficult to change a diaper, yet it is its own milestone. We'll enjoy it while it lasts!

This was a fun experiment: we needed a place to put Caleb while we ate breakfast, and decided to give the highchair a trial run. He seemed to enjoy his new perspective, I think. The size of the chair seemed so gigantic compared to his little body. MY guess is, he'll grow into it pretty quickly!
